Orloff Hotel – Hydra

The Orloff Hotel in Hydra is a unique, quaint little hotel in the heart of town, dating back to 1796 this charming building has been sympathetically restored over the years and is now a beautiful boutique hotel with many original features.

Each of the 8 rooms and suites are individually designed with high wood panelled ceilings, and built with local grey stone from the island. Despite their traditional Mediterranean style, the comfortable rooms are all equipped with mod cons including WiFi access, an espresso coffee machine and satellite TV.

The classic rooms are ideal for couples, but children are also welcome here and the superior and deluxe rooms have a sofa bed for a child whilst the beautiful split-level premium suite can comfortably sleep a family of four.

There are plenty of communal areas to relax in, pretty courtyards and patios but our favourite spot has to be the tranquil walled garden, where you could sit surrounded by trees of olive and citrus, and sweet-smelling lavender, jasmine and colourful geraniums.

A plentiful buffet breakfast can be enjoyed on the veranda, in the garden or in the comfort of your own room before you head off for the day to explore the island and the beautiful beaches which are just a short boat ride away.
Although evening meals are not served here, location-wise it couldn’t get much better, the Orloff is just a couple of minutes stroll from the pretty harbour and narrow lanes with an excellent choice of cafés and tavernas.
